ARTIST CALL OUT
The Exhibit in Balham, South London are starting the year with a fresh new look and they have asked me to round up a selection of some of the finest artist living/working in the area to exhibit their work.
What we’re looking for:
20-15 pieces either 2D or hangable - nothing too rude or lewd to be exhibited for 6 months in a prime cultural spot in South London. The works can be for sale and The Exhibit will be holding a launch party to promote the new look in late January 2015.
Here’s how to get involved
Selected artists will be notified by the 5th January 2015.
In the second part launch of Lacey Contemporary, British painters Angela Smith, Katrine Roberts and Louis Savage are painting the impossible.
Hyper colour-forms and pulsing rhythms produce a visual register to the surface but marks are gestural and obscure; distorted figures, hybrid creatures and layers of fragmented information appear in a dreamlike state across the canvases...
In the first sculptural exhibition from Lacey Contemporary ‘A dedication to Form’ focuses on the works of three exceptional British sculptors, working in metal and dedicated in their practice to the exploration of form, be it natural or abstract. At the heart of this exhibition is a collection of works that blend narrative with personal expression.
Lead by a combination of experience and intuition each artist engages with the material to create a visual encounter, a personal interpretation of the world around them.
Formal representation gives way to deconstruction, notions are embedded in surface details and subtle references to are made through structure.
For each artist their work is a journey of interpretation. Transferring narrative and reference into a physical object, a dedication to form be it human or abstract.
Brought together through the medium of painting, all investigate space, be it the cosmos or the physical space we occupy in real time and imagined. Each artist presents restraint, consideration and process in their works that heralds their craftsmanship.
